Our letter to leadership of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN)
Our requests to AAN leadership are as follows :
1. Issue a position statement acknowledging the effects of climate change and air pollution on brain health and on health equity, stating the need for further research and education, and supporting actions neurologists can take. This statement should be distributed widely, including in AAN News.
2. Join the Medical Society Consortium for Climate and Health (MSCCH). Joining requires only signing MSCCH’s Mission and Consensus Statement. Members include the American Medical Association and the specialty societies representing over 70% of American physicians.
3. Increase educational content related to climate change and air pollution in its annual meeting and publications.
Our letter was sent to the ANN Board in January of 2024. Your signature is still applicable and important.
